Sight & Hearing Services Team
Social Services' Sight & Hearing Services Team is made up of workers with communication skills and knowledge to assist people who have serious difficulties with their sight or hearing.
The team includes social workers and assistants together with a rehabilitation officer for blind people who can provide mobility training and advice on independent living skills.

We can help if you live in Bournemouth and are:
- deaf
- hearing impaired
- blind
- partially sighted
What we offer
- practical advice on managing in the home
- information about specialist equipment to help with day to day living
- registration of sight/hearing impaired people, where appropriate, with Bournemouth Borough Council
- access to group sessions for newly registered blind or partially sighted people which provide information, advice and strategies for coping with sight loss
- details of local and national voluntary agencies who also offer advice and support information about services provided by other organisations
Equipment to help you
Bournemouth Society for the Visually Impaired has a resource room where you can try out equipment to help you with day to day living. It is based at 5 Victoria Park Road, Moordown. Telephone 01202 546644 and is open Monday - Thursday 10:00am - 12:00noon.
Support for Carers
Social Services provides a range of services to support your carers - the friends, relatives and neighbours who care for you.
Charges
The assessment services of the Sight & Hearing Services team are free. You will need to pay for most equipment to help with day to day living.
