Carers Rights Day
Friday 5th December 2008 is Carers Rights Day across the country.
In Bournemouth we are launching our Complementary Therapy Voucher Scheme for carers. You can find out about the therapies available by joining us at the St John Ambulance offices at Discovery Court on Wallisdown Road at 12.30pm A buffet lunch will be available from 12.30pm and at 1.30pm we will be having a light hearted Christmas quiz. We are aiming to finish at 3pm
Don't worry if you don't know people, we will make sure you are looked after and introduced to a small group. . If you'd like to join us, please call Debbie or Jayne on 01202 458204 so we can anticipate numbers.
If you are not able to join us you can pick up Carers Information Packs at all local libraries. These will contain information about the Complementary Therapy Scheme as well as other useful information.
Training Courses Coming Up in the New Year
- There are some more "Looking After Me" courses being planned for January and February. Read the flier for the course.
- If you are caring for someone who has been diagnosed with dementia then you may be interested in the Carers Support Group starting on the 12th January at Kings Park Community Hospital. The course runs for 10 weeks and is attended by a variety of speakers all with useful facts and information to help you. The person you care for can access the Kings Park Day Hospital whilst the course is running. If you would like some more information please send your name, address and telephone number to the Carers Co-Ordinator and she will make sure the course leader gets in touch with you.
- St John Ambulance will be running another Carers Support Programme in February 2009. This is the first part of their programme and includes a range of information that will help you with looking after the person you care for and looking after yourself.
