Organisations to help if required

Everyone copes with bereavement differently, but if you need help or want to find out how to help your children cope, you can talk to your family doctor or contact one of the following organisations.

  • Age Concern - Age Concern Bournemouth promotes and develops services to enable older people to maintain both physical and mental wellbeing.  Tel: (01202) 530530
  • Bournemouth Helping Services Council has a list of local voluntary organsiations.  Tel: 01202 466130
  • Child Bereavement Trust provides support for bereaved families, and for professionals working with them.  Click for their Website for Adults or Website for Children.
  • Compassionate Friends - for bereaved parents. Tel: (01202) 301810
  • Cruse Bereavement Care - runs a helpline 0870 167 1677 and also has a helpline for young people aged 12-18 on 0800 808 1677
  • National Association of Widows - a national charity offering support and friendship to women who have lost their partners through bereavement
  • Samaritans - you can call The Samaritans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 08437 90 90 90
  • SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society) is a self-help organisation for parents who have experienced a stillbirth or the death of a new baby, and runs support groups nationwide.  Helpline tel: 020 7436 5881
