Statement of Community Involvement

As part of the LDF, the Council has prepared a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) which encourages participation in the planning process. The document sets out how the community will be involved in, and consulted on, the preparation of the LDF and planning applications. To find out more about the SCI and how you can get involved in planning, view the adopted document here.

Statement of Community Involvement – Adoption

Bournemouth Borough Council formally adopted the SCI on 5th December 2006.This document will be used in the production of future documents prepared as part of the Local Development Framework process.

The Statement of Community Involvement Adoption Statement gives formal notice of the adoption; lists the locations where the document will be available for inspection; and sets out the procedure for pursuing a grievance under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. The SCI Adoption Statement can be viewed here.

Any person aggrieved by the SCI may make an application to the High Court under Section 113 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 for a judicial review of the decision. Any challenge pursuant to Section 113 must be made on the grounds that the document is not within the appropriate power or a procedural requirement has not been complied with. Any such application must be made promptly and in any event no later than 5th March 2007.

Statement of Community Involvement – Summary leaflet

A summary leaflet of the SCI has been produced outlining the content of the main document. This is available to view here or as a free printed copy which may be obtained from our Planning Policy section (see contact details to the right hand side of this page).

As well as stating how the public are able to become involved in the preparation of planning policy documents, it also briefly explains how to comment on planning applications or appeal against a planning decision. The leaflet is also available in large print or audio format, and can be translated into other languages. If further information is required on this, please contact us.
