Planning Guidance for Bournemouth is in the form of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) and Planning Guidance Notes (PGN).
SPGs are intended to provide additional information on development plan policies and proposals; alternatively they can take the form of design briefs, or area development briefs. They do not, however, form part of the development plan, though they should be consistent with the plan. PGNs also do not form part of the development plan, but provide a best practice framework for development in Bournemouth.
SPGs and PGNs are material planning considerations and will be given considerable weight as they are consistent with the development plan and have been prepared in consultation with the general public, businesses and other interested parties. Bournemouth Borough Council currently has a number of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) and Planning Guidance Notes (PGN). These include:

Open Space and Recreation Facilities - Section 106 (Developer Contributions) When a new property is built within the Borough a levy is charged by the Council (Section 106 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990) or a developer contribution. The money received is divided and used for playgrounds, playing fields, amenity spaces and sport and recreation facilities.
