Commissioning Body
The Commissioning Body (CB) has overall responsibility for the Supporting People Commissioning Strategy 2005 to 2010. Membership comprises the Chief Executives (or their representatives) from Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset Probation Service and Bournemouth NHS Teaching Primary Care Trust. The CB has agreed the Commissioning Strategy and will agree subsequent Annual Plans, as well as any other decisions regarding the SP programme.

The Core Strategy Group (CSG) is responsible for identifying the strategic priorities and commissioning opportunities in each sector of the Supporting People Programme. The CSG was instrumental in the development of the Supporting People Commissioning Strategy and formulates the Annual Plan.
The CSG oversees the SP Programme, determines the development priorities for bids to the Housing Corporation and ensures ongoing consultation and development of partnerships with stakeholders.
The Group reports to the Commissioning Body on a regular basis on the development of the strategic aims and output achievements through the SP Manager. The role and membership of the Group is reviewed to ensure the direct involvement of stakeholders, commissioners, providers and service users to ensure inclusion into ainstream planning, delivery and performance monitoring.
Various groups responsible for the planning of services for individual client groups now feed directly into the CSG.

Provider Forums are held quarterly and give providers the opportunity to meet to discuss issues regarding SP, and for them to approach the SP Team with ideas or concerns. Provider Forums are led by the Steering Group, who set the agenda and take responsibility for any actions arising from the meetings. The SP Team is often asked to attend these meetings to give updates on issues such as the budget or reviews. In addition, guest speakers are invited to give short talks on a wide range of topics of interest to providers.

The first meeting of Supporting People Service User representatives was held on 12th December 2007 at the Town Hall.
It is hoped that this group will become a forum for discussion and consultation on current and future services and enable Service Users to be involved in setting the direction and priorities of the programme in Bournemouth.
