December 2008

The data collection phase of the Transport Study will finish shortly. This follows the earlier completion of the roadside interview survey programme where information from over 60,000 motorists was collected at 56 sites right across the area. In total around 330,000 drivers passed the survey sites, which means a healthy sample rate of 18% was achieved. Thank you to all those that provided the information and apologies to those who experienced delays as a result.
In recent weeks similar information has been gathered from a further 20,000 travellers at workplaces, car parks and on public transport.

Over the next few months the Study team will be processing and knitting together all the gathered interview information with other traffic counts and related data to produce a computerised transport model for the SE Dorset area. This model will be used extensively in developing the long term Transport Strategy and supporting future funding applications to Central Government for major schemes.

Work on developing the Transport Strategy will commence in spring 2009 - please check back on this website to see how you can contribute.
