How we can help

We can support carers in a variety of ways. Help available may include:

• Support services
• Advice and information
• Looking after yourself
• Talking to other carers
• Taking a break from caring
• Courses to help you care.

We recognise the important work carers do and understand they may need support themselves. We aim to make sure carers receive the help they need.

 

Carers Information Service

We offer an information service to:

• Keep you up to date with carers support
• Let you know about carers events
• Find out what you think of services
• Help us plan services to support you.

Assessing your needs

As a carer you can ask for an assessment of your role. You can do this even if the person you care for does not want any services. To decide how we can offer support we meet with you, talk about how caring affects your day-to-life and find out the care you need. Carers in Crisis

This is an emergency scheme offering peace of mind to carers. Many carers worry about what would happen to the person they care for if they were unwell or had an accident preventing them from providing care and support. Does your GP know you are a carer?

All the health centres and GP surgeries in Bournemouth have someone who supports carers. If you have any difficulty finding out who this is please contact NHS Bournemouth and Poole.
