About Community Employment Services

We provide advice and support to help disabled people:

  • try work and volunteering
  • get paid work
  • take up learning courses.

Our friendly and experienced staff are positive about disabled people and the contribution they can make in the workplace. We can offer up to 30 hours of one-to-one support to help you into work. We can then offer further limited ongoing support.

Who we can help

Our service is for people who are disabled. This may be because of a physical disability, sight or hearing impairment, learning disability, mental health problem or long term illness.

We may be able to help if you are over 14 years old and are:

  • looking for paid or voluntary employment, a work trial or learning opportunities
  • able to work 2–4 hours at a time
  • receive support services from Bournemouth Borough Council.

How we help

We help prepare you for work by getting to know you and discovering your potential. We work with you to:

  • identify your skills and experience
  • provide optional work skills training at King's Park allotment
  • provide information about work opportunities
  • help you look for suitable work
  • help you prepare for interviews.

We also:

  • liaise between you and potential employers
  • provide practical support when you start work
  • make sure you have the right training and support at work
  • keep in touch to see how you are getting on
  • help if there is a problem at work.

We help people get paid employment or work experience in all types of organisations including:

  • retail
  • catering
