Shared Lives Offers:

• long term housing with care and support
  short term/respite housing with care and support
• day support with a Shared Lives carer. This can be in their own home or out and about

Who is Shared Lives for?

People aged 18 and over who:

• are disabled or
• have mental health needs

and

• need a home and support
• and for older people who need a home and support

 

What we do

• find Shared Lives carers
• match them with people looking for a Shared Lives carer
• give them support and training

If you have long term or short term/respite care you:

• have your own bedroom
• share the rest of the house
• can have a front door key

 

Your Shared Lives Carer supports you with

• personal care, like washing and dressing
• looking after your money
• doing things like shopping or going out

 

If you have day support

Your Shared Lives carer supports you with things you want to do

This might be:-

• washing clothes
• cooking
• listening to music

Your carer can also support you to do things like go:-

• swimming
• to the cinema
• to the library

Will I like my carer?

• We talk to you
• You tell us what you are like
• We match you with a good carer
• You can spend time with the carer
• You can do this before you move in or have day support

 

Do I have to pay?

There is a charge for Shared Lives

The payments are different for:

• long term housing
• short term housing
• day support

If the Council gives you money for care you can use this.

If the  Council does not give you money for care you can pay with your own money.
