adders
Adders are common at Hengistbury Head, and can also be found on Turbary Common.
Adder - Vipera berus

The Adder is Britain's only venemous snake, but will avoid confrontation with humans whenever possible. The best time to spot them is in March and April, when they are more willing to sit in the warming sun. See if you can spot the young Adder, in the top left of this picture, which was taken at Henguistbury Head.
