There are 6 allotment sites in Bournemouth. The 4 larger allotments are managed by individual Allotment Societies/Associations (Longbarrow, Brook Road, North Bournemouth and East Bournemouth) and the 2 smaller are managed by the Council (Springbourne and Merrivale). All sites have a water supply.
North Bournemouth, Bournemouth East and Brook Road sites have undergone a major upgrade in 2007 enabling sites to offer better facilities for their members.
A full plot is 250 square metres or 300 square yards. All sites offer a variety of plot sizes. Please contact the individual sites to discuss availability. You need to be a resident of Bournemouth to apply for an allotment. All sites are currently holding a waiting list. Please contact the site closest to your home address.
Longbarrow Allotments
Located off the northernmost end of Throop Road in a rural setting. Following relocation of the allotments from Townsend Estate the facilities were all built from new in 1999 and include a shop, meeting room, toilet facilities (including an accessible toilet) and parking areas.

Brook Road Allotments
Situated off Brook Road, near Kinson swimming pool. The recently upgraded site has full, half & quarter plots, a members shop, office & meeting room, picnic/play area, water, secure tool storage facilities, toilets, and parking areas.

North Bournemouth Allotments
Located off Priestley Road and adjacent to the Slades Farm Playing Fields near Talbot Village. The site features a new shop, meeting room, toilets including an accessible toilet, parking areas and some raised beds for easier access.

Bournemouth East Allotments
Located on Lingdale Road, off Cranleigh Road, in the Stourfield area of town. The site has a new shop and toilets including an accessible toilet.

Merrivale Allotments
12 plots situated off Merrivale Avenue leading off Cranleigh Road. There are no facilities on site other than water and no access by car. Plots are mainly half-size. Due to the limited numbers of plots there is a long waiting list.

Springbourne Allotments
Can be found to the rear of Springboure Library on Holdenhurst Road. As with Merrivale the only facility available is water and there is no access or parking for cars. As there is a long waiting list, no further applications are currently being taken for this site.

Council run allotment plots at Merrivale and Springbourne are currently leased at £3.65 per 25 square metres per year. Other sites set their own rents.
Anyone interested in applying for an allotment is asked to contact the site closest to their or you can request a form for Merrivale Allotments by telephoning 01202 451191. Once offered a plot you will be asked to sign a legal agreement.
Each summer, allotment holders are invited to enter a competition for the best-kept plots on each site and the overall best-kept plot in the town. The competition is judged on standards of maintenance and crop quality and variety, the top plots winning cash prizes and an invitation to the annual prizegiving awards evening. The holder of the best-kept new allotment plot for each site each year also wins a certificate and a voucher.
