The Parks Operations Arboricultural Team is responsible for the management of Bournemouth Borough Council’s street trees, and those within its parks, gardens, woodlands, public open spaces and countryside sites.
Together these sites cover an area in the region of 850 hectares with a tree stock numbering tens of thousands and including 16 woodlands registered with the Forestry Commission Accessible Woodland scheme.
As a Council we are responsible for maintaining our trees in a healthy and safe condition so that that they do not cause any legal nuisance, such as;
Resources are provided to carry out this necessary work and in addition there are times when it is reasonable for us to intervene and remedy situations where our trees are encroaching onto a neighbouring property to an unacceptable degree.
As safety is also a major priority, we have an ongoing programme of tree inspections and works to remedy potential tree related safety problems.
Sometimes issues are raised about tree related complaints from property owners and we have a downloadable guide designed to advise you on when we will and won't prune our trees. Within this guide, there is also tree works request form for you to complete if you'd like to report a tree related issue.
