Volunteering

Volunteering is the ideal way to develop your knowledge and skills, to meet like-minded people, and help improve your local environment. From protecting & enhancing the natural environment to fine horticulture, there is something to interest everyone.

Volunteering can take up as much or as little time as you can spare, and even the smallest amount can make a big difference.

Many local people work with the Community Parks & Countryside Team to get involved with improving their local green spaces.

"Friends Of” Groups
A number of Bournemouth’s green spaces have Friends Of groups. These are constituted independent groups of volunteers who, with Council staff, hold varied working sessions and social events throughout the year.

Other Open Space Volunteer Groups
There are other volunteer groups which also carry out excellent work in protecting and conserving Bournemouth’s countryside and wildlife. These include some site-specific groups, as well as a group of Tree Wardens who help to look after the Town’s trees.
