Buttercup Meadow at Kinson Common

 

All walks cost £2, unless otherwise stated  -  under 16s free. Walks last approximately 2 hours. Phone 01202 437801 for further information. 

 

Tuesday 5th May, 7pm  -  Evening Wildlife Walk  -  Iford Meadows

An evening walk around this local nature reserve, to look for birds, flowers and other wildlife.                           Meet in the playing fields car park off Iford Lane.

 

Sunday 10th May, 5.30am  -  Early Morning Bird Walk  -  Hengistbury Head

Join us on this ever-popular annual walk, as we get up early to look for a wide variety of birds. We will also be listening to the many bird songs that can be heard in May, those of both migrant and resident species. Tea, coffee and toast will be available after the walk.                                                                                       Meet in the grounds of the Field Studies Centre at Hengistbury Head, where free parking will be available.

 

Saturday 23rd May, 5.30am  -  Early Morning Bird Walk  -  Kinson Common

Come along to this superb local nature reserve to look at, and listen to, the wide variety of bird species to be found here.                                                                                                                                         Meet at the entrance to the Common on Kinson Road, opposite Brook Road.

 

Saturday 23rd May, 2pm  -  Trees and Other Wildlife of Bournemouth Gardens

This walk is being run as part of the Big Green Fortnight. We will be taking a walk up through the quieter sections of Bournemouth Gardens to look at the superb variety of trees, both native and ornamental, as well as other wildlife.                                                                                                                                          Meet by the Cenotaph, opposite the Town Hall.

 

Saturday 6th June, 2pm  -  Summer Poetry Walk  -  Millhams Mead

Take a walk around this lovely nature reserve, and enjoy some seasonal poetry relating to the scenery and wildlife. Meet in the St. Andrew's Church car park in Millhams Road.

 

Tuesday 9th June, 7.30pm  -  Orchid Walk  -  Kinson Common

An evening walk to look at the superb orchids that grow on the wet marshes of Kinson Common.               Meet at the entrance to the common, on Kinson Road, opposite Brook Road.

 

Sunday 21st June, 2pm to 6pm  -  Picnic In The Park  -  Queens Park

A fun afternoon for all the family with music, stalls and children's activities.                                             Phone 01202 437801 for more information.

 

Saturday 4th July, 2pm  -  Bugs, Butterflies and Bees  -  Stour Valley

A walk for all ages, looking for the wide variety of insects to be found at this super nature reserve.                  Meet in Granby Road car park, off Muscliffe Lane.

 

Tuesday 14th July, 7.30pm  -  Evening Wildlife Walk  -  Turbary Common

An evening stroll to look for summer wildlife on this important reserve.                                                       Meet in the layby opposite 120 Turbary Park Avenue.

 

Saturday 18th July, 10.30am  -  Wildflower Folklore  -  Hengistbury Head

Discover the wide variety of flowers to be found at Hengistbury Head, and learn all about the folklore associated with them. Meet by the thatched barn.
