Do you love sport? Want to develop skills in your chosen sport? The County Sports Partnership (Active Dorset) is here to help you!
What is the Active Dorset Programme?
We are one of 45 County Sports Partnerships in England largely funded by Sport England to co-ordinate activity and sports programmes in Dorset.
Our main task is to get more people involved in physical activity and raise activity levels by 1% per annum, over the next 15 years, to reach the national 50% target by 2020. (Defined as participating in 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week - when we feel we are just beginning to get out of breath and still enjoying whatever it is we are doing).
What has happened to Active Sports?
Whilst we continue to deliver many of the key components of Active Sports, we are also evolving and expanding into new areas. Our key areas of work will be supporting the capacity and effectiveness of community based voluntary sport across Dorset, developing stonger communication and linkages across the various partners and stakeholders with an interest and involvement in sport, and getting more people actively involved in participating in sport and physical activity.
