Establishments used for the breeding of dogs are controlled by the Breeding and sale or Dogs Act 1999.
Should you wish to run a dog breeding establishment you are advised to discuss the matter with an Environmental Protection Officer. Alternately you can complete an application form and return it to the Public Protection Business Unit.
Before a licence can be granted the Council will arrange an inspection or your premises by a veterinary surgeon/practitioner and a authorised officer of the local authority.
If your application is successful the licence will be granted with additional conditions which must be adhered to. The licence runs until the end of the calendar year in which it is granted, when you will need to apply to the Council to renew it.
Licence fee £90.00 plus addional costs.
