A third of all major injuries reported each year are caused as a result of a slip or trip. Such major injuries cost employers over £512 million a year in lost production and other costs.
Employers have to assess the risks to employees and others who may be affected by their work e.g. visitors, customers, members of the public and contractors. You should: -

- Regularly review your risk assessment
The following are hazards that should be considered whilst undertaking your risk assessments: -

- Slippery surfaces
- Change in floor levels
- Slopes
- Condition of the floor surface
- Trailing cables
- Obstructions and objects left lying around
- Rugs / mats
