Responsible Landlord and Tenant Accreditation Scheme

Private rented property forms an important source of affordable housing for the residents of Bournemouth. Most landlords are committed to providing good quality, properly managed accommodation and most tenants comply with their tenancy agreements and respect the homes they live in.

To recognise this, the Bournemouth Responsible Landlord and Tenant Accreditation Scheme has been set up by the Council's Healthy Homes Team and partners including Shelter, National Landlords Association, Dorset Residents, Neighbourhood Management and Dorset Police.

To qualify, all of a landlord’s premises must comply with the standards set out in the Landlords’ Code of Practice (29Kb) PDF. On the understanding that the landlord will maintain the premises to accreditation standard they will receive an Accredited Landlords’ Certificate.

Tenants living in properties of accredited landlords can be eligible for accreditation status subject to the standards set out in the Tenant’s Code of Practice (35Kb) PDF and will receive an Accredited Tenant's Certificate.
