If you own your own home, rent your home from a private landlord (not the Council) or are a landlord yourself who needs advice, then the Healthy Homes Team can help you! We strive to improve people’s living conditions and the environment around them in order to improve their health and well being.
Contact Healthy Homes using the details on the right for any of these issues:
If you are renting a property from a private landlord and you have a problem that the landlord will not put right. This might be a leaking roof, overflowing drains, damp, mould, rotten windows, defective heating or excessive cold, unsafe electrics or gas, water supply, inadequate fire precautions, lack of security or overcrowding.
If you are a landlord of a rented property or House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) and you need advice on the relevant statutory standards for health and safety and management, including: HMO Licensing Scheme and Management Regulations, Housing Health & Safety Rating System and Bournemouth's Responsible Landlord and Tenant Accreditation Scheme.
If you are a site owner or resident in a mobile home park needing information on the site conditions (e.g. fire precautions, safety, layout, amenities).
If you need an immigration inspection (an inspection of your property before a relative comes into the country to live with you permanently – required by law).
You need advice to bring an empty property back into use.
You would like to know what loans and grants are available to help improve your property, including grants to keep you warm and healthy or to adapt your home if you are disabled.
If neighbouring properties are causing a nuisance with noise (including burglar alarms and barking dogs), smoke and dust or accumulations of rubbish.
Healthy Homes is part of the Council's Environmental Health function, delivered by the Public Protection service. We help many people improve their living conditions and in doing so, improve their health and well being.
