Older People

Because people in the UK are living longer than ever before, this means that we are an ageing society. The 2001 census shows that there are more people aged 60 and over than children under 16.

The fact that we are being successful in living longer is a cause for celebration. However, the challenge is to make those extra years active and fulfilling and achieve the quality of life that we all desire. With this in mind, Bournemouth 2026 partners are seeking to make an Age-Friendly Bournemouth where older people of all ages and their carers are able to have greater choice, opportunities and satisfaction from playing a full part in the life of the community.
