Volunteer to protect local children and young people from sexual exploitation
Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is an increasingly high profile issue that affects children and young people of all backgrounds and from all communities, across the UK.
It is estimated that 100,000 children go missing in the region every year and of those children, 25% are at risk of serious harm.
Barnardo’s volunteer experts will use their existing experience of child protection and direct work with children, young people and families to carry out interviews with children and young people who have returned after being missing from home. These interviews aim to assess what support may be required and reduce future incidences of missing episodes as well as offering practical support, advice and guidance.
Volunteers will benefit from receiving specialist training and will be regularly supported and supervised by Barnardo’s specialist team. This role gives individuals the opportunity to use their expert skills and knowledge to help transform the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people in Dorset.
The service will operate Monday to Friday during 9-5 hours and volunteers will be asked to give 1 or 2 days support each week.
If you would like to use your skills and experience by volunteering for this role please contact firstname.lastname@example.org 07885 258 582 to book an interview and hear more about our recruitment process.
