Organising an election involves a huge amount of work by staff behind the scenes.
Here are the main facts and figures regarding this year's Local Elections in Bournemouth:
- There are 68 polling stations and ballot boxes across the town
- Polling stations are open an hour earlier this time at 7am and close at 10pm, an hour later than in previous Local Elections
- 206 staff are involved in manning the Polling Stations, 140 of which will also be at working at the Count once Polls have closed
- There are 173 candidates standing in 18 wards for a total of 54 seats
- Over 126,000 polling cards have been issued
- Around 3,000 residents have chosen to vote by post
- Each voter can vote for up to three candidates
