Any member of the public whose name appears on the Electoral Roll for Bournemouth - which includes a person under the age of 16 years living in Bournemouth and who is escorted by a qualifying adult - may ask a question on the general work or procedures of the Council.

Questions must be provided in writing or electronic mail to the Head of Law and Corporate Governance - care of Democratic Services - no later than two working days before the meeting.

Rules for asking Public Questions at Council meetings:

1. The question/questions need to be sent to Democratic Services in writing or electronic mail not later than two working days before the meeting.

2. The Chair of the meeting is the final judge upon the form of the question, whether it is acceptable and whether it relates to matters within the power of the Council.

3. The question should be short, to the point and not include any long explanations, statements, or political comments.

4. You are not allowed to ask more than one question in a row at any meeting. If the time limit of 15 minutes for questioning has not run out, you may be allowed to ask a second question and, if time still allows, may ask a third question. The total number of questions you may ask is three.

5. A third question cannot be put until all members of the public who have given the required notice and who desire to do so have asked a second question.

6. Multiple questions will not be allowed.

7. At the meeting every question is asked and answered without discussion. No supplementary question may be asked.

A written copy of the reply to all public questions will be provided after the meeting.
