Special Educational Needs
All children have different educational needs and those with very significant learning difficulties may require additional help.

The information on the web pages in this section explains the legal responsibilities of parents, schools and the Local Authority (LA) in respect of children with special educational needs, and tells you what to do if your child has a special educational need and what support is available to help.

Your school (or pre-school group or nursery) and local education authority are there to provide the help your child needs to enable him/her to learn effectively, and to work with you to meet his/her needs. Please contact your school or the LA if you need any further advice.

If at any time you want help or advice on any information provided here, Special Educational Needs Assessment and Development Officers will be pleased to assist. They can be contacted on 01202 456166 or e-mail cs@bournemouth.gov.uk
