ACAS

The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service's website has information on your rights at work, equality and diversity and resolving disputes at work. They also have a national Helpline for free advice.

AdviceGuide

The online service from the Citizens Advice Bureau providing independent advice on your rights. 

AdviceNow

Accessible, accurate and up-to-date information on rights and legal issues provided by Advice Services Alliance, the coordinating body for independent advice services in the UK. 

BBC - Consumer

Useful consumer rights information and advice website which includes their Watchdog programme and useful links.

British and Irish Ombudsman

Search their list of members to find an Ombudsman to help with your complaint.

Commission for Racial Equality

Your rights under the Race Relations Act 1976, how to make a claim of racial discrimination in courts or tribunals; information about how to bring a complaint against an employer.

Consumer Credit Counselling Service

Charity which provides free, confidential debt advice and support online. See also the money education charity Credit Action and Money Basics - simple, clear, independent information about money. 

Consumer Direct

A free online consumer advice service, supported by the Office of Fair Trading. Provides advice and information to help you sort out problems and disagreements you may be having with suppliers of goods or services. You can also report dishonest traders and scams. There is also an 0845 telephone service. 

Criminal Justice System Online

Help and information on the criminal justice system in England and Wales for victims of crime,  witnesses, jurors and people accused or convicted of a crime. 

Department for Work and Pensions

Information on benefits and services for people of working age, pensioners, families & children, disabled people and their carers. 

Direct Gov - Rights and Responsibilities

Sections on Consumer Rights, Nationality and Citizenship, Marriage and Civil Partnerships and more. Also Direct Gov - Employment which has sections for jobseekers and employees, including Employment Interactive Tools

Disability Rights Commission

The DRC is an independent body established in April 2000 by Act of Parliament to stop discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people. The website has information on Your Rights, The Law, Education, Employment, Health and Independent Living, Services and Transport. Includes publications, a helpline and advisory and conciliation services. 

Equal Opportunities Commission

Your rights and guidance in relation to a range of sex discrimination and equal pay issues in the workplace; sex discrimination in the services you receive as a consumer; and sex discrimination at school and college. 

Information Commissioner's Office

Website of the independent body that promotes access to official information in the UK (Freedom of Information) and protection of personal information (Data Protection). 

Local Government Ombudsman

Information on how to complain about councils and other bodies.

Money Made Clear

Free, impartial, easy to understand financial information, guides and useful tools for consumers from the FSA - the financial services regulatory body. Also check the register of financial firms and agents, and find out about unauthorised firms and swindles.

Multikulti

Appropriate information on welfare law (debt, employment, health, housing, immigration and welfare benefits) translated into Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Farsi, French, Gujerati, Somali, Spanish and Turkish.  

Shelter

Housing rights including advice on homelessness, renting and leasing, eviction and repossessions.   

Your Rights - Liberty

An easily understood guide to the Human Rights Act 1998, explaining its relevance and impact in many different areas of law ranging from rights of privacy to rights of peaceful protest.
