HOW TO COMMENT ON A PLANNING APPLICATION

Should you wish to comment on a current application, you can use our online form please ensure that your representation is made before the publicity expiry date. Any comments received before the expiry of the public consultation period will be taken into consideration when the application is determined.

In the event of the link above being unavailable and you would like to comment on a planning application, please send an email listing your comments and clearly stating the application location or number.

All comments should be put in writing. If you prefer to write a letter rather than use the online form please address your letter to the Director of Planning and Transport Services and send or deliver to the Town Hall Annexe, St Stephens Road Bournemouth BH2 6EA .If you require an acknowledgement please enclose a stamped addressed envelope with your letter.  If you wish to be notified of the decision to grant or refuse the application you should enclose a second stamped addressed envelope. You can expect details of the decision to be available to view in the Planning Register 8 to 13 weeks after the application was submitted.

The majority of planning applications are determined under delegated powers. Where 10 or more adverse comments from different addresses or a petition of 20 or more signatures (from different households) are received the application may need to be determined by the Planning Board if the Planning Officer recommends granting the application.  Ward Councillors can also request that an application is determined by the Planning Board.  The Scheme of Delegation sets out in further details when an application has to be referred to the Planning Board for decision.

What Issues Can Be Taken Into Account?

Only comments relating to relevant planning issues can be considered. These include things such as:

Due to the volume received, comments cannot be replied to. Further information can be viewed in the 'How to Comment on a Planning Application' leaflet.
