Dorset Fire and Rescue service have dealt with a total of 550 deliberate fires in 2005/06, 168 of those were deliberate property fires. There were a total of 447 accidental fires in the same year, 9 of which were caused by smoker’s materials. There was a working smoke alarm present in only half of the accidental fires in the home (101 out of 178).
A total of 14 injuries from fires were recorded in 2005/06. In this same year, Dorset Fire and Rescue service were called out to a total of 1434 false alarms!
Dorset Police financial data for 2007/08 and 2008/09 is available and shows the 2008/09 total budget as £1.12 million (approximately). The majority of the budget (net) was spent on employees (£107,207,000).
Crime Statistics between April 2007 and March 2008 show that Bournemouth’s recorded crimes total was 18,966. Detected crimes offences, where responsibility is known but there isn’t necessarily a prosecution, total were 5,734. In Dorset recorded crimes total was 51,285 and detected crimes total was 14,069.
Police staffing figures for 2002/03 showed there were 1,409 police officers in Bournemouth. This rose by 27 in 2003/04, to 1,436 persons.
