Thanks to dedicated residents like you Bournemouth is recycling more of its waste than ever before – in fact the Council had the fourth most improved recycling rate in England for 2006/7.  But with strict Government targets to meet, the Council is constantly striving to further improve its record on waste.

Information can be found here on how consumers can reduce their rubbish consumption in the first place, how they can recycle more of their household waste including green waste and what happens to the rest.

Remember waste is a resource and it’s amazing what recyclable material can be made into:
In just seven days your paper could be back on your breakfast table updating you with all the latest news
In just six weeks your drinks can could be recycled into parts of a plane, car, fridge or simply another can.
Your glass bottles and jars could become more glass bottles and jars or even be recycled into house insulation
And those plastic bottles that you recycled once you had reused and reused them could end up being a warm and cosy fleece.
