CHOICE BASED LETTINGS IS NOW LIVE IN BOURNEMOUTH

From Noon on Friday 27th June you will be able to bid on vacant properties advertised under dorsethomechoice, our choice based lettings system.

You will also be able to get more information and help from your local Library - log onto  www.bournemouth.gov.uk/libraries and follow the "Postcode Finder" or Interactive Map for your nearest branch.

The Council has now changed the way it allocates Social Housing.

We have abandoned the old "points" system and have moved over to Choice Based Lettings which allows you to express a choice for the first time.

Instead of using just a points based system - where you are given a place on a Waiting List according to how many "points" your application has , Choice Based Lettings puts your application into one of four priority bands - a much simpler system - then after that you will generally be housed in date order along with other applicants in your band.

The other new feature is that you will be required to bid for vacant properties rather than simply wait for the Council to make you offers of housing. We will publish regular lists of vacant properties, both Council and Housing Association (RSL), and you will be able to put in a bid for the properties which you like and which are appropriate to your needs. If you already live in  a Council or RSL home and want to mave to another one this is called a "Transfer"; transfers are also dealt with under this new scheme - they used to be dealt with seperately.

To be considered for Social Housing in Bournemouth, and to take part in Choice Based Lettings, you must apply to join the Waiting List. You can do this by completing a form available at any Council Office or by completing an online application form.
