 A lot of the courses have already taken place but there are some which are still to take place and have spaces.  If you want to put yourself on one of these please see the above documents for contact details. Please note that the SP team have no further information on these courses and it would be best if you contact the training provider directly. 

 

Please bear in mind that the training departments like to have your booking at least 4 weeks before the date.

 Communities and Local Government Committee - New Inquiry and call for evidence

The House of Commons Communities and Local Government Select Committee is undertaking an inquiry into the Supporting People programme. 

The Committee is asking for written submissions - to be sent directly to it - by Friday 8th May. For further details of the inquiry, please see the Committee's website,  e-mail, or call 020 7219 1353.

Presentations to Providers:

At the Providers Forum on 16 June 2008 Chris Lewis, Supporting People Manager, gave a presentation on the future of the Programme in the light of the draft refreshed Commissioning Strategy and the budget cuts.  This was followed by a presentation from Steve Albin on the draft Commissioning Strategy 2008-2011.  These can be downloaded by clicking on the following links:

Local Housing Allowance:

Local Housing Allowance came into effect from 7 April 2008.  For more information and guidance for private landlords please see this leaflet.

Newletters:

The Supporting People Team produces a general newsletter called SP Newsletter which can be found on our Newsletter page.


Retention of Information:

The document has been produced as a guide for providers outlining the suggested retention period for the various information they may be keeping relating to personnel records, finance and health and safety. The suggested retention periods are to be used as a guide only and providers should refer to their organisational procedures for clarification and take further advice where appropriate.


CLG Guidelines for operating reconnections policies:

The CLG has published a paper called 'Getting Connected', which provides guidance and an outline framework for local authorities and their partners to develop reconnections policies as part of their rough sleeping strategy.
