Bournemouth's Parks and Countryside
The  STOUR VALLEY FESTIVAL  -  13TH AND 14TH NOVEMBER

Find out more about this very popular event.

Bournemouth has an excellent variety of open spaces. There are ornamental gardens; formal parks with numerous sports facilities; and some fantastic areas of countryside, most of which have Local Nature Reserve and other protective designations. So, whether for sport, quiet relaxation, enjoyement of floral displays, or wildlife watching, there is something for everyone in the green spaces of Bournemouth.

Bournemouth has achieved ten Green Flags for its parks. This National award, managed by the Civic Trust, is achieved through a judges' inspection and through submission of a management plan on an annual basis, in accordance with a set criteria.

View our parks Service Standards here. You can also find out about the Nature Conservation Strategy.

The Community Parks and Countryside Team looks after these sites, with the help of the local community. As well as practical tasks, the Team also runs a comprehensive programme of guided walks and Monday Morning Meanders, and organises various events through the year.

There is now a Tree Trail leaflet available, which interprets some of the fascinating trees to be found in Lower and Central Gardens.
