There are approximately 7000 businesses in Bournemouth where the Council’s Public Safety Team enforce health and safety.  They enforce health and safety legislation in the following types of premises: -

• Offices
• Retail and Warehouses
• Hotel and Catering
• Sports and Leisure
• Residential Accommodation, excluding Nursing Homes
• Places of worship
• Pre School Child Care

The Health and Safety Executive has enforcement powers for all other types of premises and council premises.

The team investigates certain accidents and incidents at work, complaints about health and safety conditions at work and provides advice to employers and employees on health and safety. The Public Safety Team also carries out inspections of businesses for health and safety.
