We all use energy in our homes - more now than ever before. Whether to make life easier with washing machines and tumble driers, keeping us warm with central heating or entertaining us with television, music, computers or games machines.
However, we must make sure that we don't waste energy - to protect our planet and our own health! To find out why, read our Climate Change Strategy and Warm and Healthy Homes Strategy.
The Home Energy Conservation Act (HECA) 1995 places a duty on the Council to identify and promote ways in which it will be possible to achieve a 30% reduction in the Borough’s household energy consumption up to 2011. So far, an improvement of 22.7% has been achieved.
