Coronavirus (COVID-19): change to service

On advice from the government regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), some public toilets have been reopened across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, these may be subject to altered opening times. Toilet facilities that are currently open

We run 16 public toilet blocks between Alum Chine and Southbourne:

  • Alum Chine, next to the playpark
  • Chineside, next to Durley Chine Beach Office, opposite the Harvester pub
  • Bournemouth West, between Happyland Amusements and West Beach restaurant
  • Bournemouth Pier, below Pier Amusements near the entrance to Bournemouth Pier
  • Bournemouth East, next to Harry Ramsden’s Fish & Chip shop
  • Toft Zig Zag, next to Surfsteps surf school
  • The Prom Diner, 200 metres west of Boscombe Pier
  • Boscombe West, next to the entrance gates for Boscombe Undercliff car park
  • Boscombe Overstrand, next to Urban Reef restaurant
  • Boscombe East, just past the coloured beach huts before the Bournemouth Beach Lodges
  • Manor Steps, at the bottom of the Zig Zag, behind Bournemouth Beach Lodges
  • Portman Ravine, 400 metres east of Bournemouth Beach Lodges
  • Fisherman’s Walk, 100m to the west of Fisherman’s Walk Cliff Lift and zig zag
  • Gordon’s Steps, 100m to the west of Gordon's zig zag
  • Southbourne, near Bistro on the Beach
  • Warrens Edge, white building at the bottom of the zig zag 100m east of Bistro on the Beach.

Opening times

The toilets open from 8am every morning, although our closing times vary depending on the time of year:

  • March and April: closures take place between 6pm and 8pm
  • May to August: closures take place between 9pm and 11pm
  • September and October: closures take place between 6pm and 8pm
  • November to February: closures take place between 4pm and 6pm

Inspections and cleaning

Each toilet block is inspected and cleaned at least three times a day.

Accessible facilities

You can find unisex wheelchair-accessible toilets at the following places: 

  • Alum Chine, next to the children’s playpark
  • Chineside, next to Durley Chine Beach Office, opposite the Harvester pub
  • Bournemouth West, between Happyland Amusements and West Beach restaurant
  • Bournemouth Pier, on the east side of the building near the entrance to Bournemouth Pier
  • Bournemouth East, next to Harry Ramsden’s Fish & Chip shop
  • The Prom Diner, 200 metres west of Boscombe Pier
  • Portman Ravine, 400 metres east of Bournemouth Beach Lodges
  • Fisherman’s Walk, 100m to the west of Fisherman’s Walk Cliff Lift and zig zag
  • Gordon’s Steps, 100m to the west of Gordon's zig zag
  • Southbourne, near Bistro on the Beach

You’ll need a RADAR key to use these toilets. You can buy one from the Bournemouth Tourist Information Centre for £5.

The following toilets have baby changing facilities: 

  • Alum Chine,

  • Bournemouth Pier entrance building
  • Bournemouth East
  • The Prom Diner, 200 metres west of Boscombe Pier
  • Boscombe West, next to the entrance gates for Boscombe Undercliff car park
  • Boscombe East (female only), just past the coloured beach huts before the Bournemouth Beach Lodges
  • Manor Steps, at the bottom of the zig zag behind Bournemouth Beach Lodges
  • Portman Ravine (female only)
  • Fisherman’s Walk
  • Gordon’s Steps
  • Southbourne
  • Warrens Edge (female only), white building at the bottom of the zig zag 100m east of Bistro on the Beach
