Coronavirus (COVID-19): change to service

On advice from the government regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), some public toilets have been reopened across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, these may be subject to altered opening times. Toilet facilities that are currently open

We run eighteen public toilets between Alum Chine and Southbourne. These are open from 9:00am. Our closing times vary depending on the time of year:

  • May to August - toilets are locked between 9:30pm and 11:00pm
  • March to April and September to October - they are locked between 6:30pm and 8:00pm
  • November to February - they are locked between 4:30pm and 6:00pm

Winter closure

The following toilets are closed from Monday - Friday between November and February:

  • Boscombe East
  • Boscombe West (Pier)
  • Warrens Edge

These toilets will be open at weekends and throughout the school holidays in the November to February period.

Inspections and cleaning

Each toilet block is inspected and cleaned three times a day. We use environmentally-friendly cleaning products. 

We address blockages within two hours between Easter and the end of September, and sanitary waste bins are emptied daily at this time. 

We address blockages within one day from October to March. 

Accessible facilities

You can find unisex wheelchair-accessible toilets at the following places: 

  • Alum Chine, by the children’s playground
  • Durley Chine, by the beach office
  • Bournemouth West, by Happylands arcade
  • Bournemouth Pier, to the east of the entrance building
  • Bournemouth East, between Harry Ramsden’s and the beach office
  • The Prom Diner, west of Boscombe Pier
  • Portman Ravine
  • Fisherman’s Walk
  • Gordon’s Zig Zag
  • Southbourne, by the beach office 

You’ll need a RADAR key to use these toilets. You can buy one from the Seafront Office for £5.

The following toilets have baby changing facilities: 

  • Alum Chine
  • Durley Chine (female only)
  • Bournemouth West
  • Bournemouth Pier entrance building
  • Bournemouth East
  • The Prom Diner, 200 metres west of Boscombe Pier
  • Boscombe West
  • Boscombe East (female only)
