Temporary Home Access to Ancestry

Library members can access Ancestry Online from home until end December 2020, as well as in libraries. To do this go to the Library Catalogue Account page and login with your library card. The Ancestry link will then appear, and you can search through thousands of records at home.

Enjoy free online resources www.bournemouth.gov.uk/cyberlibrary

Also if you have a Libraries West membership card (e.g. Poole, Christchurch, Highcliffe, Dorset libraries) look on www.librarieswest.org.uk web pages for more information.

You can hold membership cards for both Libraries West and Bournemouth Libraries.

Learn about your local history

We have birth, death and marriage records for Bournemouth dating back to 1837. We also have a collection of Bournemouth and Christchurch Parish Registers, with some records going back to 1576.

You can make copies of records for a charge.

We can provide details of family history researchers who will undertake research for a fee.
