You can no longer register for garden waste collections in 2017, but you can now register for garden waste collections in 2018. Please note 2018 collections will not commence until February 2018.
If you are elderly or have a disability and struggle to put your garden waste bin out, we may be able to help you with an assisted collection. Please call 01202 451199 for more information.
Our crews will know you’re signed up for the service by the membership sticker on your bin. Your sticker will be included in your info pack, which will be delivered to you in February before your collections start. If you don’t stick your sticker on your bin, you may find your bin doesn’t get emptied when the service begins.
You can recycle your garden waste at Millhams Community Recycling Centre and Christchurch Household Recycling Centre (based on Wilverley Road). Discounted home composters are also available from Get Composting starting at £6 or read our advice and information about how to home compost.
If you’re sure you don’t want to join the new garden waste scheme and would like your bin collected please email email@example.com or call 01202 451199 to arrange collection.

Your garden waste is taken to a company called Eco Sustainable Solutions Limited, based at Hurn, who use all the garden waste to create a high quality compost.
If you live in a flat with a shared garden, we’ll work with you to work out what size shared bin you will need. As long as your managing agent or committee agrees, we’ll supply a shared garden waste bin for your block and bill the managing agent.
If you are renting and/or are not responsible for the garden where you live you can contact your Landlord or Managing Agent and request they arrange a garden waste collection for you.
The number of residents that want a garden waste collection has more than doubled since collections begun in 2008 and we can’t afford to keep adding new residents to the scheme. Residents regularly tell us they would like more garden waste collected and for a longer season but we can’t afford to offer these options. Charging for garden waste allows us to offer these improvements to our service and allows all residents who want their garden waste collected to join the scheme.
You can recycle your garden waste for free at Millhams Community Recycling Centre or Christchurch Household Recycling Centre (based on Wilverley Road). As we offer other options for free disposal for garden waste we won’t be offering discounts.
You can also compost your garden waste at home. Discounted home composters are available from Get Composting starting from £6 or you can see advice about how to home compost, including an introductory leaflet.
We do not collect garden waste from mid December to mid February because only a small amount of garden waste tends to be produced by most households during the winter months. Garden waste can also freeze in the bin, making it very difficult to collect when temperatures drop below zero.
