Sustainable Food City
We became members of Sustainable Food Cities to make healthy food a defining characteristic of both Bournemouth and Poole
At Bournemouth and Poole Councils, we understand the impact food has on our health and lifestyle. From obesity and diet-related disease to food poverty and waste, food is at the heart of some of our greatest problems
It’s part of the solution too.
We became founding members of Sustainable Food Cities to make healthy and sustainable food a defining characteristic of both Bournemouth and Poole. By helping people make small changes in their relationship with what they eat we can help make life better for everyone in our towns.
Bournemouth and Poole Councils successfully won funding from the national programme in order to work towards Sustainable Food City status alongside only five other cities: Belfast, Cardiff, Liverpool, Newcastle and Stockport.
Sustainable Food Cities
The Sustainable Food Cities Network is an alliance of public, private and third sector organisations that believe in the power of food as a vehicle for driving positive change.
The alliance is committed to promoting sustainable food for the benefit of people and the planet. Supporters of Sustainable Food Cities have recognised the key role food can play in dealing with some of today’s most pressing social, economic and environmental problems.
