How To Use Dorset Home Choice

How to make a new application, create a log-in, deal with a forgotten password or update your account 

To make a new application

  • Go to www.dorsethomechoice.org
  • Click on the council logo.
  • Choose Register Tab.
  • Choose to apply to join the Housing Register.
  • Complete the form.  

You may have to wait up to 12 weeks to hear the outcome of your application because we have a large number of applications. 

If you have already applied online using an account which is no longer active, please register again using a different username to the one you used before. 

Although we place adverts daily, all properties are available for you to look at on Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week. This means you only need to check on one of those days as it doesn’t make a difference to where you come on the shortlist.

Accepted onto the Housing Register – create a log-in

You'll receive an acceptance letter once you've been accepted and banded on the Housing Register.

Once you have this, you need to create a new log-in on the Dorset Home Choice website.

  • Go to www.dorsethomechoice.org 
  • Choose Log In (right hand side of the menu bar).
  • Choose Create a New Login? Then follow the instructions.

You need to have your reference number to create a new log in. You'll find this on your acceptance letter. 

If you don’t currently have access to a computer or a smart phone, we would recommend that you ask a family member or trusted friend to log in to your account for you and place bids on your behalf.

If you have no other way of making bids, you can contact us on a Friday to check the property list. 

Forgotten password or details

If you can't remember your log-in details:

  • Go to www.dorsethomechoice.org
  • Choose Log in (right hand side of the menu bar)
  • Choose Cannot Access my Account and follow the instructions.

Change of circumstances (change address or add a person)

If you need to update your application, log into the Dorset Home Choice and choose the My Details tab and then choose the link Change of Circumstances. Please then complete the form in full. If there is any change in banding, you will see this when you log onto your application.
