The Local Energy Advice Programme gives eligible Bournemouth households access to free home visits, energy saving gadgets, benefit checks and other services. Apply now

  • Insulating your loft to a depth of at least 270mm could save you up to £70 a year
  • Fitting a hot water tank jacket of at least 80mm could save you £10 a year
  • Insulating your hot water pipes will save you £10 a year
  • Installing draught-proof windows and doors could save you £20 a year 


  • Turning your central heating thermostat down by just 1 degree can save you up to 10% on your fuel bill
  • Fitting a hot water cylinder thermostat and set it at 60 degrees C could save you £15 a year 

Switch, change, fix

  • Defrost your fridge and freezer regularly to lower their running costs
  • Fix dripping taps to save £5 a year
  • Replace your most-used light bulbs with low energy ones

Borrow an energy monitor for free from your library so you can see how much energy your appliances use in your home.  This can help you to work out ways to use them less and to save more money!
