For the next six weeks, residents can take an active role in helping to guide the future of the area. The Queen’s Park Ward Area Neighbourhood Forum has applied to Bournemouth Council to be formally designated as a Neighbourhood Forum for the purposes of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan and set the boundary of the Neighbourhood Plan Area.
The proposed area which is largely based on the Ward boundary covers Queen’s Park itself, residential areas including much of Charminster and both sides of Charminster Road where many businesses are located.
This is the first step towards preparing a community led framework to plan proactively for built development, regeneration and conservation in the area. When completed through a statutory process and adopted by the Council, the policies in the plan will be used alongside the Council’s planning policy documents to make decisions on planning applications on the area.
The consultation runs until 5th March 2018 and Bournemouth Council is seeking views and comments on the application from local residents and interested stakeholders.
Councillor David Smith (Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment), said: “This is an exciting opportunity for residents to offer views and comments on the future development, regeneration and conservation of the area. This is different from other planning documents in that it is prepared by the local community.”
