Data collection for track and trace

Protecting customer and visitor details

Collecting and storing customer data is part of the Covid-19 recovery

Track and trace is now a way of life, enabling our businesses to re-open safely. Collecting data doesn't require anything complicated. Just find a way that suits your business.

New Test & Trace rules from 12 April including cafes and sports clubs.

Please note that from 12 April all customers and most visitors (not just the lead customer) must register for Test & Trace if they are using, or eating at, your premises (including sitting outside).  The exception is for take away only.  There is a requirement to display a NHS Test &Trace QR code or for staff to collect customer information.  Staff must also register for each shift.

The updated page Maintaining records of staff, customers and visitors to support NHS Test and Trace - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) has the all the details and what to do if someone refuses to register.

Practical guidance

The Information Commissioner's office (ICO) have created five simple steps to help ensure that data protection is not a barrier to your recovery.
