How to Pay Your Council Tax
You can pay your Council Tax in a number of different ways
You can pay online, by cheque, direct debit, on the phone, at a bank or post office.
By Direct Debit
Thousands of council tax payers now pay by direct debit. You can choose to pay monthly or once a year.
To set up a Direct Debit, either call 01202 451597 or download a direct debit form and return it to the address on the form.
You can pay online with a debit card or credit card. However there’s a £2.50 admin charge for credit cards.
You can pay by debit card by using Santander BillPay.
You just need to select 'Bournemouth B.C.' on the BillPay website, then 'Bournemouth B.C. (Council Tax)'. You need your reference ready.
Please note - The Council is looking to remove this payment method by the end of the financial year. The new 'Pay Online' method will operate in the same way as the BillPay option but will not require rekeying of information as per the previous HSBC Online payment method.
On the phone
You can make a payment by calling our 24 hour payment line on 0330 088 7966. Simply listen to the options and pick the one that you wish to pay for. We take debit cards and credit cards. Payments with a credit card have a £2.50 extra admin charge.
Just make sure you have your reference ready.
Transfer funds online or by phone
If you use online banking, you can pay by transferring funds. You’ll need:
- Our sort code 40 13 07
- Our account number 21006622
- Your Council Tax reference number
