Paying My Benefits Overpayments

There are several ways that you can pay an invoice

We'll send you an invoice if we’ve overpaid your Housing benefit. You can pay the amount on the invoice. You’ll find options on how to pay the bill on the letter we send.

If you want to set up a standing order to pay the overpayment, call us to discuss a repayment plan.

Once the repayment plan has been agreed, send a Standing Order form to your bank. 

Paying us online

You can pay with you debit card by using Santander BillPay. Not used it before? There’s lots of information on how to use BillPay on their website.

You just need to select 'Bournemouth B.C.' on the BillPay website, then pick the 'Bournemouth B.C. (Benefit Overpayments). You’ll need your reference ready.

Paying us on our 24 Hour Payment Line

You can pay us over the phone by calling 0330 088 7966. You’ll be able to use a debit or credit card, but there’s a £2.50 admin charge for credit card payments.

Paying us in person

You can pay your bill at your local bank. You’ll need your bank giro (included with the bill).

 To transfer funds, you’ll need:

  • Our sort code 40 13 07
  • Our account number 21006622
  • Your Invoice number 

By cheque

If you want to pay us with a cheque, you can either post it to us or bring it to our offices:

Cheques need to be made payable to ‘Bournemouth Borough Council’. You’ll also need to write your Housing Benefits Overpayment reference on the back and include your payment slip.
