How we help carers.
Through CRISP (Carers Resource, Information and Support Programme), the Carers Support Service offers a range of support for carers:
- Advice and information
- Help to look after yourself
- Social events
- Help to take a break from caring
- Courses to help you care
- Emergency back-up scheme (Carers in Crisis)
We have worked with local carers across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset, and with our other partner organisations to develop a strategic vision called Valuing Carers in Dorset. This sets out what carers think is important for us to focus on up to 2020.

You can have a Carer’s Assessment even if the person you care for doesn’t have services. It is not a judgement on how well you provide care, it’s just a chance to make sure you get all the help and information available
