This Household Recycling Centre has re-opened with a number of safety measures for residents who are unable to safely store additional waste at home and who have no alternative disposal options available.
How to get here
Millhams is in Kinson. To find Millhams, enter via the A348 Ringwood Road at Longham. Post code BH11 9LQ.
Monday - Sunday
- April to September: 9am to 5pm
- October to March: 9am to 4pm.
Please note last entry to Millhams is 15 minutes before closing time.
Millhams is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day but please check the website for updates before travelling.
Who can use Millhams?
You can use Millhams if you live in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole.
If you live in Bournemouth or Poole and you’re visiting Millhams in a van you will need a permit.
If you are visiting with a trailer, it must be a maximum size of 6’ x 4’ (1.8m x 1.2m). Further details of vehicles that can and can’t use the site are here.
Please take some identification with you to prove you live in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole. You can use:
- Current Council Tax bill
- Photocard Driving Licence.
- Any utility bill that shows your name and address.
If you live in Bournemouth you can also use the Christchurch Household Recycling Centre at Wilverley Road and Nuffield Household Recycling Centre at Nuffield Road, Poole. Please check individual web pages for restrictions before travelling.
East Dorset also have access to Millhams. Please take some identification with you. Dorset Council van permits cannot be used at Millhams.
Pedestrians (on foot or on a bicycle) are allowed to bring waste to the site but must report at the security gate and provide the appropriate evidence of BCP Council residency. Pedestrians must follow the guidance of site staff at all times. Pedestrians cannot bring waste onto the site that they cannot carry themselves and must be no larger than a bin bag/rucksack. Pedestrian access is not allowed by residents driving to the site, parking outside the site and taking their waste in on foot.
Charity waste acceptance
Charities are not permitted to use the recycling centres. However, charities in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area can apply for a charity permit, subject to our terms and conditions, to dispose of donated household waste. Access is only allowed via the commercial weighbridges at Bournemouth and Poole Recycling Centres (no access is permitted at Christchurch Recycling Centre). Best times to visit?
To make your visit to Millhams a swift one we recommend that you try to come along at our quieter times. The quietest times, both in the week and at weekends, are 9-11am and 2-3pm.
The New to You reuse shop
You can visit the New to You shop (Albany Business Park, Cabot Lane, Poole) most Saturday's from 9am-1pm to view and buy second hand items for the home. Please check New to You page before travelling.
