We want all children who can’t live with their birth families to have a loving home. If you’re over 21 and want to adopt a child, get in touch with our Adoption Service and help us give every child the love and attention they deserve.

Bournemouth Adoption Service

Our Adoption Services Team find loving homes for children. Our service was judged as outstanding in the 2012 Ofsted inspection.

About Adoption

Anyone who is 21 or older can adopt, no matter what their background is like. They just need to offer a secure and loving home.

The Adoption Process

The adoption process has three stages. There's a more detailed version of this in our adoption information brochure.

Children for Adoption

There are all kinds of children who need adopting. This includes sibling groups and children with special needs.

Post Adoption Support

We can still offer you support after your Adoption Order. We hold regular talks as part of our Adopter's Group.

Special Guardianship Support

We support Special Guardians to enable them to provide a positive home environment for the children in their care

Adopting Step Children

You may want to adopt a child from your partner's previous relationship. Our Children's Social Care Team will be in touch with you.

Apply to Adopt Step Children

If you want to adopt step children, you should call the Adoption Team for advice. A social worker will complete a report.

Information for Birth Parents about Adoption

If your child is adopted, you won't be legally responsible for them. Families for Children can offer you support.
