Health Visiting Service
Information, advice and support to pregnant women, expectant fathers and parents of new babies and young children
Health Visitors support and encourage you through the early years of your child's life. They are there to help with any worries or difficulties such as:
- health concerns
- child's development and behaviour
- feeding / weaning
- postnatal depression
If they can't help you themselves, they will put you in touch with someone who can. They work closely with other local healthcare providers and children's services, so know where you can get help, for example a specialist clinic or support group,
All pregnant women and families with babies and children under five are offered health and development reviews, along with immunisation advice, to ensure a healthy start for their baby, children and the whole family.
You can also contact health visitors in between scheduled appointments if you have any questions or concerns.
The Health Visiting service delivers the national Healthy Child Programme, to improve the health and well-being of all children, beginning with early pregnancy and continuing for the first five years of life.
