Activities for Young People (18+ to 25) with Special Educational Needs and, or Disabilities (SEND)
It can be quite difficult to find out what activities are locally available to you. We've put together a number of options for you to take a look at where you'll be able to meet other young people and enjoy being part of clubs and events that you are interested in. Other activities are detailed within our SEND directory.
The Chatterboxes are a youth action project, run by young people with special educational needs and, or disabilities, aged 11-25 years old. They currently run 3 youth groups a week. Their main aim is to raise awareness of disabilities and create a community with is equal for all whilst being surrounded by friendship and laughter. Our local Odeon Cinema BH2 has special sensory friendly and inclusive showings for all, normally on a Sunday morning.
Wessex Warriors Powerchair Football Club - Wheelchair Football (all adults) currently a Friday night activity with matches held on weekend dates.
Dorset Destroyers - for Wheelchair Rugby (for 18+)
Dorset Devils - Wheelchair Basketball (for 18+)
Young people also have access to "B-Town Youth" - where you can find events and activities for SEND young people (between 13 to 25 year olds) take a look at their B-Town website.
Libraries run activities and groups for people of all ages, find out if there’s something going on that you’d like to join in with at your local library.
New groups and clubs start up all the time and should you be aware of something that isn't on our list we'd really like you to tell us so we can add it for others to also learn about it.
