Going To School With A Medical Condition

If you’ve got a medical condition there are special measures in place to make sure you don’t miss out at school

Schools have to make sure that all their pupils are safe and will be able to take part in all the activities they offer wherever possible. For example, trips away from the school and classes like PE.

This means schools have to know how to help students with different needs if there is a problem. This could include knowing what medicine or special equipment to have available.

What we mean by medical conditions

The following are examples of what we mean when we say a medical condition.  They are different from SEND because they don’t affect how you learn:

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Migraine
  • Sickle cell anaemia
  • Heart conditions
